Playback does not work

I downloaded CADCHF data (at least I think I downloaded data for a 2 week period) in simulation mode and then turned it off under Connections. I then activated Playback Connections to playback the data but the playback control is grayed out so that I can not set the start and end dates downloaded. I have used this mode before in 7 but this is first time in 8. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

Update

I have managed to get Playback platform active. It seems fully functioning and the playback bar moves as if data is being referenced however the chart is not being updated or moving in any way.
