Parabolic SAR stop loss settings - acceleration vs acceleration step

I'm seeking clarification on the three acceleration settings available in the parabolic stop settings in Strategy Builder. I'm new to the parabolic SAR concept, but from my research so far I see two settings generally mentioned for the parabolic SAR: the "step value", and the "maximum step". Can somebody please explain in practical terms the difference between the "acceleration" and "acceleration step" settings in NT? Please note that I am not a coder nor mathematically inclined.

    Hello tradyKat,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the NinjaTrader forums!.

First, here is a link to the relevant help guide page: https://ninjatrader.com/support/help...abolic_sar.htm

On that page is this link for a general explanation of the indicator: https://www.investopedia.com/trading...parabolic-sar/

Acceleration would be the initial start value that acceleration step it iterated on/from.

You can perform further internet searches for additional information as well as the book by J.Wells Wilder jr. that first provided the ParabolicSar.
