change to Ninjatrader 8

I am contemplating changing over to Ninjatrader 8. If I do would I need to redo the machine ID? In short please outline what I would need to do and what to expect - thank you.

In short, no - simply using NinjaTrader 8 should not change your machine ID. On my end, I am running NinjaTrader 7 and NinjaTrader 8 and both of them report the same machine ID.

NinjaTrader does not control your machine ID directly. Your machine ID is generated by NinjaTrader based on your PC's fundamental hardware (like RAM, motherboard, etc.) and fundamental software (BIOS/UEFI version, Windows updates, firmware updates, etc.). If any of these items change, your machine ID is likely to change as well. There is no way to manually change your machine ID.

However, if this question implies that you have custom NinjaScripts which are licensing based on your machine ID, you'll need to contact the developer(s) to obtain a version specifically built for NinjaTrader 8. Custom indicators are one of the items which are not migrated to NinjaTrader 8. You can learn more about what is and what is not migrated in the Migration Guide
