In the Strategy Analyzer, if Optimize Data Series in unchecked and you have selected Optimization as the Backtest type, the backtest never runs. It only works if you select Optimize Data Series, is this a bug?

In my tests with the SampleMACrossover Strategy that comes built into NinjaTrader, I'm not able to replicate the behavior you describe. Can you try testing with the Sample MA Crossover?
What version of NinjaTrader are you using? You can find this under Help > About. The latest version is 8.0.21.0.
