    Relative Volatility

I'd like to day trade the most volatile commodities.

Is there an indicator that I could use to compare relative, recent volatilities? I would prefer to use Market Analyzer over a chart.

    Hello sgordet,

    Thanks for your post.

In the Market analyzer, a common indicator to consider would be the ATR (Average True Range): https://ninjatrader.com/support/help..._range_atr.htm You might consider a column with an ATR of 1 period and a second column of a longer period ATR and perhaps a 3rd with an even longer period ATR. In addition NetChange can also be a helpful column to add as this shows the change from the previous day.

We will leave this thread open for other forum members to contribute to.

As you suggested, I set up some ATRs for several different intervals. The problem seems to be that the instruments have different tick values. Is there a way that I can normalize them, so that I can compare them?

        Hello sgordet,

        Thanks for your reply.

I am not aware of a means to normalize them without creating a custom script to do so.
