    Automated strategy becoming disabled

    I left my automated strategy unattended for a couple of hours and for some reason it completely shut off. The indicators the strategy displays stopped showing up and the strategy stopped executing trades. How do I prevent this from happening again. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your post.

    Please check the "Log" tab of the control center as this would show any error messages that would be related to and include the message of disabling the strategy. These error messages would provide some clue as to the cause. Once the cause is known then you can determine what is needed to prevent that.

    If the strategy becomes disabled, it would be expected that any indicators applied by the strategy would be automatically removed from the chart.

      It says lost price connection for more than 10 seconds and will be restarted. Does this imply an issue with my wifi?

        It says Primary connection=Connected, Price Feed=Connection lost

          Thanks for your reply.

          It does indicate a loss of connection with the price data feed server. There could be a number of connection points between your PC and the source server so the connection loss could occur at any of those points, including your wifi. You can eliminate wifi issues by directly connecting to your router/modem.

          You may want to review your connection loss settings for strategies. These are found in Tools>Options>Strategies. Please see the help guide section, "Understanding NinjaScript properties" on this page: https://ninjatrader.com/support/helpGuides/nt8/?options_strategies.htm for further information regarding these settings.

            Thanks for your notes.

            To clarify, are you reporting that your custom NinjaScript strategy you created is becoming disabled?

            If so, please check the Log tab of the Control Center for any error messages that would be related to the disabling of the strategy and includes the message of disabling the strategy. These error messages would provide some clues as to the cause for why the strategy was disabled. Once the cause is known then you can determine what is needed to prevent that.

            If the NinjaScript strategy is not behaving as you expect it to, debugging prints should be added to the strategy to confirm exactly how your conditions and logic are evaluating. In the strategy add prints (outside of any conditions) that print the values of every variable used in every condition along with the time of that bar to see how the conditions evaluate.

            Prints will appear in the NinjaScript Output window (New > NinjaScript Output window).​
