IB connection hanging at connecting

    IB connection hanging at connecting

    Suffered a hard disk failure recently and just reinstalled NT8 with my corresponding IB account using TWS.

    Followed the connection guide to setup as usual but when I choose my connection in NT I'm prompted for my security details, after I enter them TWS starts up as normal my connection however remains yellow and the log in NT just says they are connecting and hangs there, no error message appears.

    Things i've tried so far - double checked all the settings pretty confident I didn't mess any of those up, I also updated NT, TWS to their lastest versions and made sure Java was up to date as well.

    Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forums Draegnar!

    If you have updated TWS to a version newer than what is supported with NinjaTrader, you may be experiencing issues with connecting and order submissions. The current version advised in the Connection Guide is TWS 960.2g.

    To help troubleshoot you may wish to try connecting with IB Gateway as well to see if the issue lies in the setup for TWS.

    Versions of TWS and IB Gateway that are compatible with current releases of NinjaTrader can be found in our Connection Guides page here. Please also make sure that the port you have used in TWS matches that in NinjaTrader.

      I actually started on the recommended version of 960.2g I only updated to see if it would fix the problem, I'll give gateway a go and report back shortly.

      Ok IB Gateway works ok so that was certainly a good suggestion, any idea why TWS wouldn't or a way to fix it? Should I remove it completely go back to 960.2 and see if a fresh install fixes the problem or is that unlikely?

        Yes, I would recommend uninstalling the current version of TWS and proceed installing 960.2g. If there are any issues connecting at that point, they are likely a minor detail in the Connection config either on TWS side or on NinjaTrader's side.
