    Risk Settings

    Hello!!

We have had problems when a strategy begins to operate in a certain instrument, since when performing the entry operation,
an error message appears which informs us that the risks for that instrument have not been updated.

In fact, days ago we had carried out the update through database management.

This update should be periodic or should not be done in that option?

    Thanks for your help.

The reason you are seeing this error message is that a risk template has been applied to the account you're trading to and that risk template does not have a definition for the instrument you are trading. To fix this issue remove the risk template from the account or add a definition in the risk template for the instrument being traded.

    To remove a risk template:
    • Control Center > Accounts tab
    • Right-click on the account you're trading to > Edit account
    • Change 'Risk' to 'None' > OK
    To edit risk template settings:
    • In your control center, select 'Tools' > 'Risk'
    • Choose the risk template you wish to edit
    • Edit/change risk settings > OK

      Hello Patrick, thanks for replying

The template we are using is 'NinjaTrader Brokerage Default' which includes ES, the instrument we are trading on.

What gets our attention is: a few days ago, a strategy A performed an entry on ES successfully, on the other hand today another strategy B tried to execute an entry order on ES but was rejected and error message said "no risk settings defined for the instrument".

How often do we need to update risk settings for the instruments? Or should it be enough if we do it just once?

The template is typically updated automatically on the fly. I could not be sure why your template seems to be missing standard instruments.

You can also try updating the built in templates manually:
        • Control Center > Tools
        • Database Management
        • Expand 'update risk templates' > Update
