Purpose of Instrument linking between a chart and FX Board

What exactly does this do if i assign a color to a chart on the instrument link and the same color to the fx board instrument link?

I know for example how it works between a DOM and a chart but I'm confused as to what it does on an FX board

Thank you for your post.

Glad to assist. This will switch the selected instrument as well. When selecting the Instrument field of the FX Board, the field will highlight to show the selected instrument -- this selection will also trigger the linked chart to switch to the selection.

ah, got it. i was selecting from the chart and wondering what it did. now I understand. Better to select from the fx board
