Indicator, internal re-use when used as input for another indicator

    Hi,

Just wondering. If I have an indicator on a chart, and I wanted a simple EMA of the output also - If I used the separate EMA indicator to plot that ema, using 'indicator' as the input series, given all parameters of the indicator are the same as the one already on the chart, does this result in 2 copies of the indicator, it's tick series, resources etc., or is the platform intelligent enough to use the one that already exists on the chart?

    Thanks.

    Hello pjsmith,

    Thank you for your post.

In the situation you describe there would be two separate instances of the indicator; the instance applied to the chart, and the one called by the EMA indicator.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance to you.
