Instrument Switching without expiration

Is there any way to use the chart instrument switcher without needing to type in the expiration date:

e.g. "ES" rather than "ES 06-18"

Its a bit long-winded doing it every time; and I rarely want to look at a contract other than the most recent one.

For futures instruments it is required to type in the expiration date. Would you like me to submit a feature request to have this considered for future releases?

thanks Josh, yes I think it would be very useful if we could search without expiration date, and Ninjatrader automatically pulls up the contract with the closest expiration.

Think of all those unnecessary key-presses every day; most traders just want to get the most recent one.

There is a similar issue floating around somewhere under my name regarding the need to type at all, rather than select from list, in the context of adding to Instrument List.
It's all related - more effort, repeatedly.
Perhaps someone could try to 'tie these things together'.
