    Journaling Functionality?

Does NT have some kind of journaling functionality? I tried using EdgeWonk and it just doesn't import statements correctly. I need something... some blog said NT has some basic capability?

Haven't used it but, yes, at Control Center > New > Trade Performance > Display > Journal.

      Hello lrukandji,

      Thank you for your note.

NinjaTrader 8 does feature a Journal display in the Trade Performance window. The Journal tab is only visible in the Account Performance window. The Journal tab allows you to keep journal entries on your trading activities. Enter your comments in the text area and press "add". The data grid will display your journal entries by date.

Tip: You can also add Journal entries based on a Execution or Trade via the Executions Display and Trades Display. Right click on an execution and select "Add Journal Entry".

Let us know if we may assist further.

7/4/2024 4:29:49 PM Default Unhandled exception: The conversion could not be completed because the supplied DateTime did not have the Kind property set correctly. For example, when the Kind property is DateTimeKind.Local, the source time zone must be TimeZoneInfo.Local. Parameter name: sourceTimeZone

I'm getting the exact same error when trying to add a Journal entry for trades placed on my real account; When I try to add a trade made in a simulated account, the operation completes successfully. Any pointers?

            Hello alsoares ,

            Thank you for reaching out.

What broker data feed/account are you connecting to?

This error is caused when NinjaTrader 8 is set to a time zone that the account you are generating a report for cannot recognize.

            Solution:
            • Change the time zone to a standard time zone within the same time zone
              • Continuing example above, change to (UTC-5:00) Eastern Time
To change a Time Zone in the NinjaTrader 8 platform, please go to Control Center->Tools->Options->General. Then select the desired Time Zone and click OK.

After that you would need to restart the platform.

Plus make sure to reload historical data on your chart by right clicking on a background of the chart and selecting Reload all historical data.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

I'm using NinjaTrader brokerage/data, using the preset "Live" connection.

I tried changing the time zone, restarting and reloading historical data for all the available time zones that are the same as the one I'm in, still the same error. I even tried changing to (UTC-5:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) and reloading historical data, still the same error.

                Hello alsoares ,

                Thank you for your message.

Let's make sure your PC's atomic clock is synced with NinjaTrader.

You may use the steps below to sync your PC's internal clock that NinjaTrader's Charts use for its timestamps.
                • Shutdown NinjaTrader
                • Right-click on the clock in the lower-right corner of your desktop
                • Select "Adjust date and time"

For Windows 10, select 'Date, Time, and regional formatting' > 'Additional date, time, and regional settings' > 'Set the time and date'
                • Select the 'Internet Time' tab at the top
                • Set the server to time.nist.gov and click "Update".
                • If the message that appears says successful your PC clock should now be updated.
                • If not, select a different server from the Server: drop-down and try again (repeat until one of the servers is successful)

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance or if you continue to experience this behavior.

                  Hi Erick,

I made sure the clock was synced as per your instructions, as the screenshot below shows. Still same error.
