Multi core Utilization

If i have a single workplace with four different instruments loaded will I get the benefits of have multiple cores or do I need multiple Workplaces to fully utilize all my cores?

Each individual instrument should receive its own thread, so in your described scenario, I would expect 4 cores (4 threads) to be utilized by NinjaTrader 8 for 4 instruments..

It is absolutely possible to overload a thread. For example, if you had 30 instances of AAPL running, this would occupy one thread only. If you had 30 different instruments, I would expect NinjaTrader to use 30 (or as many as available) threads to mitigate the load.
