Random Error

I am getting a random error, sometimes once a week, sometimes once every two weeks or so. I am stumped on this. It totally freezes NT8 and have to close it via pop up message window. In the Trace File the only line item it shows corresponding to the time of the crash is:

DateTime ERROR: Indicator "": Error on calling 'OnRender' method on bar 726: External component has thrown an exception.

That is all it says. Any ideas on what to look for to fix it.

These are my own custom indicators. I have tried removing indicators one at a time for a day but that is not helping as I can't forcibly reproduce the errors. What would be the "External Component"? It truly is random. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the post.

In this situation, the error seems to be coming from the indicators OnRender, so the external component portion of the error is likely referring to some SharpDX code being used or some code that is later referencing something related to rendering like a Drawing Object.

I see that the error is not listing the indicator name, this can happen if you have deleted the label for the indicator or are making the label blank in the indicators code. I would likely suggest for the time being to give the indicators you use labels so you can isolate which indicator is failing.

Once you know which item is failing, you would need to look at the code being used in OnRender as that is where the error came from.

Excellent. Never knew that about the labels. All labels go back on and I will live with a cluttered chart until I can diagnose it. Many thanks Jesse.
