"Bars ago" Missing in Alert Conditions

I am trying to add alerts in Market Analyzer. When I go into the Alert Conditions, I do not have "Bars Ago" field. I only see Properties "Offset" field. How can I make the Bars Ago field show?

The Market Analyzer is real-time only and does not display historical values, therefore it would not be possible to create an alert based on a historical bar or indicator value. This would be why you don't see the "Bars Ago" field when trying to set up an alert in the Market Analyzer.

In contrast, a Chart does display historical bar data, therefore a chart alert would be able to use historical bar data to be considering in a specific alert condition used for indicators and other data series. I would suggest trying to set up your alert on a chart instead if you need to use information from historical bars in your alert.

There is actually a simple way to achieve this. If you make a simple indicator which displaces its input by a period of "N". And set the input of this displacement indicator as another indicator. Then BarsAgo[0] on the displacement indicator will produce the value at BarsAgo[N] on the input indicator.

You can then make an alert on this column; which will show the indicator value from N Periods ago. I've attached an InputDisplacement Indicator and some screenshots of how to set this up.

Yes, you could make a custom indicator that uses the values from previous bars; however, there is no native way in the market analyzer to access the values from historical bars when setting up alerts.
