If anyone wanted to compare the two... some data to help:Originally posted by StoxFox View PostI have a free one that doesn't require licensing. It's by BabyWhale, and I couldn't find a link to the original. I've attached it instead. I hope it's not against the rules to upload somebody else's work. It was free, I just don't remember where I got it from.
The zip file one you posted:
Cons:
- Only 24 hours of news events showing, nothing for the next day even?
- Only had 8 USD news events of all priority levels in that 24 hours
XABCD News:
- Contains 7 days (free version) and 14 days (paid version) worth of news events (to see what previous spikes were caused by news)
- We had 23 news events that were USD based in the same 24 hour period as that other indicator - not sure why they are not listing 15 events?
- We put in the actual, expected and forecasted results.
- Our news lines can be changed with their opacity so they are not so intrusive on the chart.
Just some food for thought

No worries, i'd say the free version is pretty good, but were putting all the feature request into the pro version if you want to submit any ideas...Originally posted by StoxFox View PostSounds like a good indicator, xabcdtrading. I might actually end up using it myself. Thanks for the update.

It's up to each individual to decide whether or not the indicator is worth the $100 you charge. In my opinion, no it isn't.Originally posted by xabcdtrading View Post

The free version clutters up the chart and doesn't allow any opacity settings either. At best, the free version functions as an advertisement for the paid version.
This is going to be a user preference, but I only need reminders of big news events (FOMC, etc.), stuff that always gets liquidity withdrawn and thins out the books about 5 minutes before the event. Thin book = extreme volatility and slippage. So it's a bit of a moot point that you guys list more news events than the free indicator I'm currently using.
And you can't beat open-source, really. Anyone who is willing to take the time to learn C# and NinjaScript can easily customize the addons to suit their purposes.Last edited by StoxFox; 08-07-2023, 03:46 PM.

Totally agree and thank you for your interest in our software. We completely understand your considerations about the pricing, and we appreciate the opportunity to shed more light on it.Originally posted by StoxFox View PostIt's up to each individual to decide whether or not the indicator is worth the $100 you charge.
The journey of our software began as a free tool, specifically designed to help XABCD Pattern traders by mapping news events on their charts, preventing any unfortunate trades right before critical announcements. Over time, the overwhelming response and valuable feedback from our users led us to develop a pro version to cater to their feature requests.
While we do charge a price for our pro version (which comes packed with numerous enhancements), it does include the ability to select specific events, ensuring a clutter-free experience, particularly for traders using higher timeframes. We also take pride in maintaining the software and providing free future updates to all our loyal users who have supported us throughout our six-year journey.
While we understand that some software developers might be capable of creating their own tools with only features specific to their needs, many have found our software to be a worthwhile investment due to the time and effort it saves. Plus, when some traders consider the potential consequences of missing crucial news events, the value of the $99 fee becomes more evident to them.
Our commitment to user satisfaction is unwavering. We have a dedicated newsletter, which keeps our users informed about ongoing developments and improvements, fostering a collaborative relationship with our valued community.
Ultimately, we respect that choosing our software is a personal decision as you mentioned. Our goal is to provide a high-quality, feature-rich solution that enhances the trading experience and empowers traders with the insights they need to make informed decisions.
We appreciate your interest and understanding. Should you have any further questions or feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out to us on our live chat (yes, humans there!). We are here to assist and support you in any way we can.

The potential for the XABCD indicator is great, BUT after several requests (gone ignored), the indicator still needs to be set up each time you open Ninjatrader. It does not retain settings, so what events, etc., need to be configured each morning. Pass. And I spent the money, so my requests are ignored anyway. Find an indicator that is configurable, remembers that configuration ... then spend money on it if it works, but not on XABCD until they make theirs user adjustable, and they set their egos aside and listen to what the community wants.

Thank you for your feedback on the XABCD indicator. I apologize if it felt like your requests were ignored—please rest assured that we did respond and noted your suggestions. In fact, your request was filed as a feature request and has been picked up, with plans to include it in an upcoming iteration, targeted for release toward the end of October.Originally posted by TD_ddmoney View PostThe potential for the XABCD indicator is great, BUT after several requests (gone ignored), the indicator still needs to be set up each time you open Ninjatrader. It’s worth mentioning that the settings you’re referring to are quite specific and not the main settings of the indicator, which is why they are not currently retained between sessions. We are actively working on improving this, and I appreciate your patience as we continue to enhance the user experience.
Your input is important to us, and if you want to reach out to us on the live chat i'd be happy to see if i can provide you any more details.

I will be happy to make an update when / if the October update includes the request ... BUT ... the feature enhancement is something that is built in to most indicators and NOT "quite specific". The storing of user settings is in almost every indicator in Ninjatrader. To save the template and recall different ones as needed. It was just an oversight on XABCD's part, and not one ANY user should have to ask for. Your live chat is "friendly", and I appreciate that, but don't tell me my request is specific when it is commonly built into most indicators ... Nobody that I know would want to open up a news indicator each day and set it up. Just absorb the request, note it, tell when it will be incorporated into the product, and leave it at that. Own it. Thank you.Originally posted by xabcdtrading View Post

This is why its on the road map. I"ll show you why I think its "quite specific" based on how most of our user base uses the software. Easier in a video which I hope will help show you this and other features that people have requested, and how we're already saving presets.
How were saving presets and how we're expanding it based on features.

Thank you, but your reply is relevant how? Your "user base" uses the software the way you have designed it, so saying that's the way the user base uses it, is frankly irrelevant to my statements.Originally posted by xabcdtrading View Post

Ask your users if they would like to retain their settings once, or if they want to configure it each day ... I would suppose most would prefer to set it and forget it. So my request is only "specific" for your product that is missing a common feature amongst the other news indicators. I bought it and shame on me for making the assumption it didn't need to be set up repeatedly. I asked for a refund the same day I bought it, and you said no, that you would add the "feature" in an upcoming release ...
That, was a long time ago.
I'm glad it's on the road map, but again, it should have been from the start. Either way, I am happy to update my comments and add to this with positive reviews ... but do know I have not said anything untrue about your product here. Good day. I'll hope to see the update in October.
No hard feelings, just expressing my cautionary frustrations so others can factor into their decision the state and features of the product before they part with their money.

What is incorrect is that your saying "user settings" are not saved. That is false. 14 are saved, 3 you have kindly requested a feature request for which is on the road map to ne picked up in October.
Currently what is what's CURRENTLY saved in a users preset:
- Line Styles
- Line Colors
- Line Widths
- Line Opacity
- Buffer Opacity
- Buffer Counts
- Buffer Visibility
- Priority Visibility
- Custom Sound Alert Files
- Past Event Visibility
- Font Styles
- Font Size
- Font Colors
What is not saved are the calendar filters. That is added on the road map because of your feature request.
We count on users like yourself to submit feature requests. Its part of our way of making the product better and understanding how our large user base have used the product in many ways. Its what makes our product the best and go-to for a vast amout of users.
This will make things even better, and we hope you have many more feature requests as well as others.
Having 3x the news and the ability to filter and get alerts, as well as allow people to program against it to pause their automated trading before and after news events, makes the tool a must have for ninja users.

Have had several releases for anyone following the thread. Some of the more popular enhancements are:
History: You now have access to 90 days of historical data if you want to use it for backtesting which was a popular request.
Alerts: We've also introduce the option of having the events read out loud, so it will shout out "Nonfarm payrolls" when the event happens.
Alerts: There are now "Pre-Alerts" that happen before the news events to give you a heads up
Filters: Additional filters for only showing the last X days
FIlters: Remove old news events to only display upcoming alerts
