Hello Trader17,
Thanks for your post.
Yes, you can plot swings from a 30 minute bars onto 5 minute data. I've created an example chart where I have added a hidden 30 minute data series and then applied it to the swing indicator using the default colors. To contrast, on the next example, I have also added the swing indicator to the 5 minute bars (with light blue and orange-red dots).
The dots will plot to the right until a new swing high or low has been determined.
You may want to look at an indicator called swingrays2 that will plot to the right edge and can remove (or maintain) the lines when price touches them. Here is a link: https://ninjatrader.com/support/foru...d=7&linkid=915

Hello Trader17,
Thanks for your replies.
Yes, using the techniques shown here you can apply an indicator to either of the data series on the chart. https://Paul-ninjaTrader.tinytake.co...gwN182ODQ0MzA4

Thank you very much. And the strength only looks for the input number on each side of the bar, correct? So a strength of 3 would mean look for 3 bars on either side with lower highs or higher lows, correct? Can it also be made to look for lower highs and lower lows AND higher highs and higher lows?
Thanks.

Hello Trader17,
Thanks for your post.
Here is the definition from the help guide: "The Swing indicator will plot lines that represent the swing points based on the strength (number of bars to the left and right of the swing point) parameter provided, it's mostly a visual tool and not meant to be predictive in nature. Only after the strength number of bars has passed since the extreme point, the swing return value could be definitely set, thus the indicator updates it's calculations as new incoming data warrants so." Hello Trader17,
Thanks for your reply.
We converted many indicators from NT7 to NT8 for the convenience of all. However, please note that in the support department at NinjaTrader we do not create, debug, or modify code for our clients.
You are more than welcome to make a copy of the indicator and modify to your personal preferences.
Alternatively, if you would like this done for you, we can provide references to 3rd party providers that can program to your needs.

Perhaps the SwingRay2 indicator can easily and more efficiently be modified for MTF with a user input for indicator time frame without the need to have a second data series chart overlaid in background (transparent). This will certainly make life easier and uses less computing resources.
Cheers!

Nice idea with extending the lines!!Originally posted by aligator View PostHi Paul,

Hello Trader17,
Thanks for your post.
The swing indicator plots until a new swing is determined.
There are no means with the standard swing indicator to stop the plots duration.
You are welcome to make a copy of the swing indicator and modify it for your needs. If you would like this done for you, we can provide references to 3rd party coders.
