using historical data

Hi,
I'm using IB TWS to get my historical minute data in order to test my strategies.
Since IB has limits I can't test my strategies directly.
Some requests are refused and my tests are incomplete and unusable.
I downloaded all the data I needed to avoid requesting it from IB multiple times in big chunks. I can see my data is there under tools->Historical Data.
However, I don't know how to force my strategy to use this downloaded data instead of requesting it again from IB.

Can anyone tell me how to make NT use that data or recommend another data provider for minute historical data for leveraged ETNs such as UGLD.

I found it.

All I had to do was add the External connection and connect to it in order to access the historical data that's already in NT's database.

Now I can test my strategies and view charts with that historical data loaded in NT.

I figured it out watching this video since I couldn't find any doc on the External conn.

The NT doc doesn't seem to mention this kind of use. Here's all I could find:

Since I'm not sure this use of the External connection is supported, I'll wait for confirmation from NT staff before I close this thread. But it works for me.

Thank you for your note.

If you go to Control Center>Tools>Options and click on Market Data Categories, then uncheck "Get Data from Server", this would disable the retrieving of historical data from your providers server.
