Managing simultaneous trades with ATM

Hey guys -

Let's say I have a simple 1 contract ATM with a 4 tick stop and 8 tick profit. I enter a short trade so that trade is on.

While that trade is still in progress, I want to enter a long at a certain point with the same ATM.

How can I do this without closing out the short as well?

So I can best understand your question, while short you wish to buy a contract without closing out your short position?

If you could please provide more detail on what you're looking to accomplish that would be helpful.

Yes, that's right. In that example, buy a contract without closing my short. Same instrument.
Or is that not allowed?

Hello PN720,

If you are short 1 and place an order to buy 1 you are net flat. What you describe is not possible.
