Huge drawing lag on daily TF

    Hi,

I have noticed significant performance issues on a the daily timeframe with some of my indicators. Strangely, I noticed that the performance issues dissappeared on a 1440 minute chart as opposed to the daily chart.

The attached code prints 500 horizontal lines onto the chart on startup and prints the time taken to the output window.

I am getting 27 milliseconds on the 60 minute chart Vs. 969 milliseconds on the daily chart for exactly the same workload.

1440 chart is printing the 500 lines in 25 milliseconds.

Can this issue be replicated on other machines?

Hello marty087, and thank you for your report.

So that I can be sure I am testing the same way you are on my end, can you take pictures of your data series windows used for both tests?

To send a screenshot with Windows 7 or newer I would recommend using Window's Snipping Tool.
Alternatively to send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screenshot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CTRL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.

It looks like the files you attempted to attach did not attach. To ensure we get the correct photo I have included a picture of a data series window from my system.

I just realised I didn't read your request properly. I will have to provide the data series pics tomorrow. In the mean time, are you getting the same lag on your end for 1 day vs. 60min charts?

Generally, the machines I have access to do not have a good deal of lag. This is due to a few factors. Most important of these factors are the instruments traded, and the data feed used. The computer I have access to also performs well. My times for loading both minute and daily data using the ES 03-17 and the Kinetick data feed have an outer bound in the tens of milliseconds, when loading a proportional date range for daily bars that is larger than minute bars, away from peak hours (as minute bars are severely limited during peak hours with most data feed providers, destroying the validity of any testing and causing false positives where daily bars seem to load more slowly).

This is why the information I have requested is important. Your data feed will also be helpful as well.

It is unusual that daily bars take longer to load than minute bars. While instinctively I suspect we may be subject to peak data throttling for your minute bars, I can not say for certain what is occurring until I know what instrument we are trading, how far back we are loading data, who your data feed provider is, and other pieces of information that are located in that data series window.

I look forward to assisting further.

              Hi Jessica,

Please see video below showing all your requested details.

I am using FXCM for the FX data but the same lag happens when reloading all data with Kinetick Free EOD...

I have done a fresh install of NT8 removing all files and only adding a few CS's. Currenttly no imported DLL's on systmem.

              Please report back.

              Thanks.

Thank you marty087. I was able to see the same thing you were seeing on my end. For reference, my results :

                365 1440 minute bars : Time Taken @ END = 54
                365 Daily bars : Time Taken @ END = 2634
I am investigating why this is the case
