ATR bands for Keltner channels on different time frames

2 questions -- i've been bumping up against an issue for years and never really addressed it until my attempt to get an hourly Keltner indicator to plot on a volume based chart. i'm pretty sure this can be observed with any Keltner indicator in the ecosystem or base install using typical ATR/period calculations for the bands. The indicator bands or median won't plot unless there is an hour or more of bars showing on the volume chart's visible screen. I'm using a separate 60min dataseries added to the chart to plot the 70period indicator. (1) Is there any way to change the plotting so that there's no need to have that many bars showing on a volume chart (MES 06-25 @ 1400vol). Displacement won't work because the values don't match up with the 5min chart that has the hour dataseries and plotting the same indicator.
I have tried using a 30min dataseries and doubling the period to 140 but, since it's based on an EMA, give different results for the band spacing and i've never attempted to modify the ATR band calcs to adjust for the longer period. I'm only guessing that the ema calcs just won't be the same band levels between the 70/hour and 140/30min because of its exponential nature. (2) Any ideas on how to adjust the calcs so the two methods would have the same values ?

Hello stafe,

You can set the bars required to plot to 1 to expose the entire plot however the keltner uses the SMA which takes a period. The values before the period has been met will not be the full moving average for that period so it may not be completely accurate at that point.
