getting an error when executing a close position and attempting to enter a different position

Order '51d721fd222b4fc7a7668d42773405fc' can't be submitted: order status is CancelPending. affected Order: Buy 1 Market

is there a way to check a account for a position for an instrument and once it is 'cleared' it will continue executing. A loop 'would work' problem is it constantly freezes NT

By 'cleared' do you mean Cancelled?

Our recommended solution for checking orders on Accounts is looping through the Orders collection. I wouldn't expect this to constantly freeze NinjaTrader, I'm not able to replicate this behavior on my end.

You can also check the order state of an order through OrderUpdate.

if I am calling Position.Close("","");

how would you correlate that the flatten on the position/close of the position has been achieved? would this be a while loop checking to see if all orders for an instrument are filled?

I do not recall a Position.Close() NinjaScript method. Are you referring to Cancel()?

If you have the order.Name, you can check that specific order's status within OrderUpdate. Or, you will need to loop through all active orders on the account and check if none are currently in CancelPending or CancelSubmitted.
