Best Practice for updating indicator Plot

I have created and indicator plots an oscillation of an EMA but after a period of time the plot goes flat. If I press F5 the Plot updates for awhile until it flattens again.

    Hello Itachi,

Based on the description it sounds like the indicator works normally when processing historical data but does not work the same when processing realtime data. That could be due to the indicator settings being used, for example historically it will calculate OnBarClose but in realtime you have the three options including OnEachTick and OnPriceChange as well.

The best way to address this would be to print out the bar time and values you are using in your calculations and compare how the values are in historical vs in realtime when the plot goes flat. You would specifically want to do the realtime test first and collect the output slightly before and during when the plot goes flat. Then reload the chart and check the values for the same times. That will let you step through the chart to see exactly why that is happening.
