Enhancing the BarTimer Indicator

The BarTimer is very simple and beautiful, but also unhandy.

Every trader has different preferences as to where he wants to see the remaining time.

1. therefore it should be possible to place the timer everywhere on the chart.

In addition to the main time unit in which a trader trades (e.g. 1 min chart), it is always important to keep an eye on other time units, because after the completion of the candles there, corresponding movements are to be expected (e.g. on the hour).

2. it would make sense to add other time units to the main chart, as the trader needs them.

If you are immersed in the chart, then you can easily overlook the end of an important time unit.

It should be possible to set whether the countdown takes into account the last 3, 5 or 10 seconds, as well as to choose between different sounds. If another time unit is added, the volume could increase automatically.

You could certainly make these changes to a custom indicator.

I would recommend starting by making a copy of the bar timer indicator.

The bar timer is using Draw.TextFixed() to draw the text and using TextPosition.BottomRight hard coded.

Draw.TextFixed(this, "NinjaScriptInfo", NinjaTrader.Custom.Resource.BarTimerTimeRemaining + timeLeft, TextPosition.BottomRight, ChartControl.Properties.ChartText, ChartControl.Properties.LabelFont, Brushes.Transparent, Brushes.Transparent, 0);

You could instead create an input for the TextPosition and supply this to each call of Draw.TextFixed().

[NinjaScriptProperty]
[Display(Name = "Text position", GroupName = "NinjaScriptProperties", Order = 0)]
public TextPosition DrawTextPosition
{ get; set; }

Draw.TextFixed(this, "NinjaScriptInfo", NinjaTrader.Custom.Resource.BarTimerTimeRemaining + timeLeft, [B]DrawTextPosition[/B], ChartControl.Properties.ChartText, ChartControl.Properties.LabelFont, Brushes.Transparent, Brushes.Transparent, 0);

The 'NinjaTrader.Custom.Resource.BarTimerTimeRemaining + timeLeft' string is the time. You can add to this string if you want to add a label.

NinjaTrader.Custom.Resource.BarTimerTimeRemaining + timeLeft + " seconds.

You can play sounds with PlaySound().
Or trigger an alert with Alert().

If you are trying to add buttons you can add buttons to the UserControlCollection.
