Alert not firing when tab is not the top most active one

I have an indicator that in the OnBarUpdate will fire an alert.

I open several charts each in its own tab and add the indicator to all of them. They all are using the crypto feed.
I let it run for a while and no alert fire. Then when I make a certain tab visible, all of a sudden the alert fires. It looks as if the indicator is not processing while the tab is not the active tab.

Has anyone heard of this happening before?
