    GlobalDrawObject

    Hi,
is there a way (probably undocumented and unsupported) to cause the xml file in the templates/GlobalDrawingObject folder to be read and utilised? From what I can observe it is used only at application launch.
I am exploring dropping new xml files into this folder while NT8 is running and have new global objects appear correctly on charts from these new files.
Happy to have a complicated answer here. :-)

    Many thanks,
    saltminer

    Hello saltminer,

I will look into what this folder is used for and let you know what I find.

    I appreciate your patience.

      Hello saltminer,

      Thanks for your patience.

The GlobalDrawingObject is specifically designed to work with workspaces. When a workspace is saved with drawing object set to All Charts, this will save the global object for the instrument and workspace as serialized xml in this folder. When a workspace is opened, the files are read for this workspace name and then loaded.

Officially, this is not intended to create new drawing objects, and is only intended as part of the functionality of saving workspaces.
