Any way to highlight or shadow a candle?

I have certain scenarios that I want to be able to highlight or shadow a candle to make it stand out as a part of an indicator. I have been using different drawings like rectangle to get the job done but its not giving me the effect I am looking for. Any other ways to do this that anyone can think of or has used successfully?

    Hi ErikY,
Did you already try one of the following if your respective condition set is true?
Drawing -> Set background color -> Back brush -> Color of your choice?
Drawing -> Set bar color -> Bar brush -> Color of your choice?

Hi NT-Roland, I did not try anything like that. I will play around with that and see if it works. Thank you

        Hello ErikY,

This inquiry is in the Indicator Development section of the forums. Are you making an indicator?

You can set the CandleOutlineBrush to set the outline around a candle.

You can set the BarBrush to set the color of the candle.

Hi Chelsea, Yes, I am making an indicator. I am going to play around with candle outline brush and see if this gets what I am after. Thanks

New question on this, I kind of like what the outline brush is doing, but I would like to make the width much thicker to make it really pop out.

The CandleOutlineBrushes[0] can be set to a brush, but I can't figure out if I can make it a custom brush with a set color and a set width. Any way to do this?

              Hello ErikY,

It's not guaranteed to change, but you can trying change the stroke width and brush of ChartBars.Properties.ChartStyle.Stroke (outline) or .Stroke2(wick).

Thanks Chelsea, is that on a bar by bar basis, or is that for the entire series of bars?

                  Hello ErikY,

This changes the entire chart bars series. There is no equivalent of CandleOutlineBrushes for the outline style width. It would be necessary to create a custom chart style at that point.

Chelsea, is there any documentation you can point me to for custom chart styles?

                      Hello ErikY,

There is some documentation in the help guide.

The chart styles included with NinjaTrader are also open source and you can use these as examples.
