Yes that is due to it being inside an indicator the method you are using is a strategy method.

To be able to place orders from an indicator you need to use the addon framework to find an account and then the accounts submit method.

There are samples in the help guide pages under the addon section that i linked. The first step is to find an account and save it to a variable like the sample on that page. After that you can use your account variable with any of the methods listed under the Account section in the addon section of the help guide. You can use the left side to navigate to each of the sub sections to see samples for each concept.
