    days to load

    hello,
I use priorDayOHLC on my charts with data series in which I have selected "days to load=1".
but I think there is a bug in this.
it works properly but on every Monday it doesn't draw any levels on the chart. rest of the week from Tuesday to Friday it draws all the levels on the chart.
Now as soon as I make "days to load=3" it draws levels on Monday also.
so when "days to load=1" on every Monday it looks for levels from Sunday and as markets are closed on Sunday so there are no levels drawn. but I think it should take levels from last trading day i.e from Friday.
I think this error happens with all indicators which place yesterday levels on today's intraday chart when "days to load=1".

    Hello hir04068,

    Thanks for your post.

The days to load is based on the number of days you specify. It does not skip non trading days for the particular instruments you use, this is expected. You could also run into less data when there is Holiday or a partial holiday.

If you do not wish to specify 3 days to load, an alternative would be to change the selection from "days" to "Bars" and then set the number of bars to load which will effectively skip non trading days.

using bars is not a good alternative because as new bars are formed high/low values can keep changing.

        Hello hir04068,

        Thanks for your reply.

Your choices are "Days to Load" or "Bars to Load" or "Custom range" for the data series. We have already discussed that days to load is based on calendar days. Bars to load is a very specific number of bars which you can use when you know exactly what you need historically. Custom range is exactly that, based on calendar days you select.

If none of these selections meets your specific needs, I can create a feature request if you can provide specifics of what you would like to have happen regarding loading historical data of a chart. Please note that a feature request does not mean a feature will or will not be implemented but does keep user requests in front of program management who ultimately would decide on/if implementation.

@hir04068 A better solution may be to use (or define) a trading hours template for your instrument that ignores the weekends, then just set the days to load to days, as needed...

even "Custom range" will no solve this issue as it also considers market closed days while loading data.
I don't know why nt8 consider "market closed days " also while loading data as that doesn't make any use.
              feature-request::
in trading, hour templates there should be an option where if a user wants then "market closed days " can be omitted from considering while loading data.

                Hello hir04068,

                Thanks for your post.

I will create the feature request that specifies you are asking for the "option to specify that the charts days to load would be based on an instruments' actual trading days as opposed to calendar days" and will update this thread when I have further information.

                  Hello hir04068,

You vote has been added to the existing feature request of SFT-3800, "Days To Load to only count Trading Days".

Thanks for your interest to improve NinjaTrader. If the feature is implemented, it would be published in the release notes of the version it is first released in. All version release note are available in the on-line help guide, here is a link for your convenience: https://ninjatrader.com/support/help...ease_notes.htm

thanks for adding this feature request.
but I would like to know what benefit nt8 company thinks for making closed days to count while loading data. I don't think any other platform does that. this default feature doesn't make any logic according to me, I may be wrong but if possible can you please explain what benefits it adds on chart to count closed days...
                    thanks

                      Hello hir04068,

Thanks for your reply and questions.

The design has the benefit of being easier to determine what calendar day to start on. As far as I know this has been used in NinjaTrader this way for at least a decade through all previous versions of NinjaTrader. The benefit is of course subjective to the user. We have tracked your feedback in the feature request.
