    hello,
how can I only show todays swing levels on the chart. I don't want the indicator to show yesterdays {historical} levels on chart.

    Hello hir04068,

    Thank you for your post.

What interval are you using on the chart you'd like to plot this on? Do you want just the RTH hours for the current day to show the swing levels, or over the ETH session? And to clarify, you're talking about the Swing indicator that comes built into NinjaTrader?

Thanks in advance; I look forward to assisting you further.

        Hello hir04068,

        Thank you for your reply.

RTH is Regular Trading Hours (what you'd normally think of as the traditional "Trading Day". ETH is Extended Trading Hours - this covers the overnight period and premarket.

You can achieve this without coding (I noticed you mentioned you don't know how to code in another thread), but you'll need to adjust your settings for it each day.

You will need to open a new chart. For this example, let's just say I am using a 75 tick NQ chart. First, in the Data Series window, I would select NQ 12-19 and select 75 tick as my interval and 5 days of data to load.

Next, still in the Data series window, I'm going to go to the instrument dropdown and again choose NQ 12-19. It should populate the same information as the first data series we added. Under Time Frame, change "Load Data Based On" to Custom Range. I then set both the Start date and End date to today's date. If I wish to only display the indicator on the regular trading hours, I can select "CME US Index Futures RTH" (This will vary depending on what the instrument uses for trading hours - the NQ uses either CME US Index Futures RTH or ETH). If I want it to be on the full ETH hours, I can leave it as "Use Instrument Settings".

Click OK on the Data Series window. You should have a chart with two Data Series displayed like so (note that I've compressed the timeline so you can see where our second data series starts at the beginning of today's session:

Next, right click on the chart and select Indicators. Add the Swing indicator to the configured list by double clicking on it, then in the Properties, click on Input Series and select the second one, then click OK on the Input Series window. Under Visual, change Panel to 1, as shown below:

Click OK. Your chart should now look like this:

Right click in the price column of the top panel of the chart and select "Maximize:

Your chart should only display today's swing points:

The downside is that you'll need to go in and change the date of the secondary series (the one we set to today's date) every day, or it will continue to just show the ones for today.

There's also the option of learning NinjaScript and modifying the indicator itself to only show on the current date's session, but that would require coding. Let me know if you'd be interested in resources on learning NinjaScript, or if you'd like our Business Development team to contact you with options for third party NinjaScript Consultants that could either assist you with modifying this indicator yourself or modifying it for you.
