Adjustable Renko Size

Hi

If I set an indicator to control Renko Bar sizes. Will the entire chart be redrawn for every indicator update. Or just the current bar?

Thank you for your post.

When you say your indicator controls renko bar sizes, I'm not precisely sure how it would do so - could you elaborate on what exactly this indicator does? There is not a supported way to have an indicator change the barstype of a chart, but if you change your chart, the attached indicators will recalculate.

I was at least hoping I could control Renkos with an indicator. As in whatever value that indicator is outputting would adjust the current Renko bar. Without redrawing all the rest. THe indicator itself readjusting according to the new Renko bar is part of the plan.

But it seems as if theres no way to do that? No?

Not with an indicator, that would not be supported. You could theoretically create your own custom bar type and include the calculations for the indicator in it. Here's a link to documentation on BarsTypes from our help guide:

Hi Kate

Any existing indicators or bars in Ninja that add bars in unusual ways. I know of the regular time based ones, renko, heikin-ashi, range. The usual suspects. Are there any other ones?

You may also be interested in looking at Kagi, Point and Figure, and Line Break Period types - those along with Heiken-Ashi are what we'd consider to be "exotic" bar types.
