    How to find if indiator is called programatically?

    is there any way to detect in code, like this:

    this.IsProgramaticallyCalled

    so, in indicator, i could differentiate, whether that indicator is being added on Indicators WIndow (as typically what user does),
    or whether it is called in the background by another indi?

    How to find that (I mostly needed to detect that even in earliest OnStateChange event).

    I know how to achieve that with adding extra property in indi, and setting that and etc.. but i wanted to know if there is already implementation in NT, like i said in above example.

    Hello,

    Thank you for the post.

    The way I know of would be to use the Parent property and check if it is not null and its Type.

    Code:
    if(Parent != null)
    {
    	Print(Parent.GetType().Name);
    }
    This should report a different type for each hosting situation such as a market analyzer or strategy. In my test, a strategy shows "Indicator" as the parent type so the differentiation, in that case, would be not null as the type name won't say strategy.

    I look forward to being of further assistance.
