Difference between GroupName and Category

What's difference between :

[Category("My Group")]
[Display(Name = "XYZ")]

and

[Display(Name = "XYZ", GroupName="My Group")]


before the input declarations?
which method is prefered? some of indis are grouped using first method, some of my idnis use second method. I want to choose preferred way, and eliminate other . WHich one should i choose?
