A small usability improvement? Space in name when creating indicators

When creating an indicator, if there are spaces at the beginning or end of the name, Ninja complains of special characters not allowed. As the space cannot be seen, this could trip some users. Suggest the string to be trimmed of spaces, without warning. I think this is the default mode for most software. E.g. saving a file in MS Word ignores spaces around the filename.

I will put in a feature request for better handling with the error you receive here.

It looks as if this is meant to be an educational message to let you know about the formatting the name should contain. If you do this frequently I see that it could be annoying. I will put in a request to change this message to be one time or include a checkbox so that after you have seen it, it could be auto formatted.

If auto-trim is not desirable, one could improve the message is to say special characters and/or spaces not allowed in the indicator name. That would be an easy enough quick fix. I personally would auto-trim and not give a warning, but that is my personal choice.
