Is it possible to add buttons on the chart window in the highlighted region? I tracked down the automation ID for the tab panel, but having trouble shunting it aside. the whole chart panel moves with it.

This would be possible to do, but as it involves pure C# modifications with WPF and escapes documented sections of our help guide, this is an area that we will not be able to provide complete support for. It is possible that an internal change to NinjaTrader could break this in the future.
That being said, there are some available samples that describe adding buttons/menus to ChartTrader and additional rows/columns. The key to note is that you only own as many rows or columns as you create, and everything must be shifted over appropriately when you create a new row/column.
