    NinjaTrader Version 8.1.4.0 Released

    I am getting issues with regards to workspaces failing to load. Indicators appearing and disappearing.
    Platform just locking/ dead.

    I have repaired the installation but same issues.

    Anyone else having similar issues?

    Hello Mindset,

    If you have a specific set of steps that is causing a problem please make sure to post that. In this case you would otherwise need to do some troubleshooting to see what specifically is happening. If workspaces are failing to load I would suggest trying to resave the workspace and check if that works. For indicators failing to load that could relate to coding errors, if you see errors in the log for an indicator I would suggest making a new post just for that single indicator along with the error you are seeing so we can address that directly.

      Well I had to reinstall in the end. I am guessing corrupted workspace with a corrupted database - Ive had this before so i kind of recognise the signs.
      The steps I took were simply load NinjaTrader. It got stuck in some loop using massive amounts of memory and cpu doing something that it couldn't complete.
      Took me 45 minutes to resolve it and I missed the open because of it.
      I tried safe mode and removed the offending workspace but then came the database issue as even a new chart would just start and then freeze up. It works long enough for you to think everything is ok and then ......

      I simply wondered if it was an issue with the new version as I haven't had issues like this with NT8 for some considerable time.

      On the plus side the new version has some nice new features - i esp like the T&S hover feature.

      Currently all good.

        Ok so I did a complete reinstall and it lasted one day!
        this is the error which I assume is a database error?

        should i repair the database or just delete all the data and reupload?

          Hello Mindset,

          Please try renaming the database file and resaving the workspace after restarting, then restart again.
          • Shutdown NinjaTrader
          • Open the Documents > NinjaTrader 8 > db folder
          • Right click on NinjaTrader.sdf and select "Rename"
          • Rename the file ' Original NinjaTrader.sqlite'
          • Finally, start NinjaTrader

            Thanks. Already tried that - it just keeps repeating the same issue - works for one download and then the charts just whirr around "loading".
            Its getting frustrating.
            I kind of assumed a complete fresh install would resolve all issues but clearly I am wrong in this instance. There must be something hanging around somewhere causing the Gremlins.

              What are you referring to as download?

              Do you mean you are importing an NinjaScript Export?

              Do you mean you are opening a chart with no template and no indicators applied and the chart fails to load historical data?

                Hi Chelsea,

                Did this solve the problem with phantom positions (that I was having with Trade Copy)?

                Positions that Ninja reported that were not on the Exchange?

                  Hello llanqui,

                  While our development has made changes regarding the Rithmic adapter, I cannot confirm these issues are corrected on NinjaTrader's side, and I cannot confirm these are not issues with the code of the addon.

                  I've made a personal test script that copies collections to lists and doesn't do any locking, does all work on independent threads, and spaces out order submissions by 50ms with a timer and was not able to reproduce any issues on a collogues personal account with 8.1.3.1 before our development had made changes.

                  The latest release updates the Rithimc connection adapter with the latest API and there are other changes under the hood.

                  I'm not able to confirm if the issue is with the 3rd party addon or an issue with the connection adapter or if this has been corrected in the latest release, without a reduced test script with only a few lines of code that is able to consistently reproduce the issue and doesn't include code that cause issues (like locking account collections, doing work in account event handler methods, etc).

                  We'll need to wait for our community to test for the behavior and see if there are further reports the behavior can still be reproduced in 8.1.4.1, and work with vendors to get reproducible code.

                      By download I mean downloading historical data.
                      Since this post I have reinstalled again and repaired twice. I Have also renamed my database about 4 times. So there is an issue somewhere.
                      It appears my database and or workspaces are getting easily corrupted.
                      If i open a new workspace and chart everything seems to work - any pointers on this?

                      I will attempt to maintain a workspace without indicators and see if that solves the issue - then I will know it's some coding somewhere.
