    Questions concerning referencing external DLLs

I have questions regarding the addition of external DLL to the NinjaTrader editor window.

I have seen mentioned numerous times, in other topic replies, that any external DLL files must be copied into the "NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom" directory. However, if I open the References window, I do see a number of external references that are located outside of this directory.

Question: Is it absolutely required that external references be copied to the "NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom" directory, or can they be added from their original locations?

Given that I have copied to the "NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom" directory all of the DLLs from some external project, can I simply add the main DLL as a reference in the Reference window, expecting that Windows will be able to find any dependent DLLs in the same directory?

    Thank you.

I seem to have answered my question about whether it is sufficient to reference the main DLL of a multi-DLL project. I have a project that accesses an SQL Server database. I copied all of the required DLLs to the "NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom" directory, but referenced only the main DLL. NinjaTrader is able to call the external project without any errors.
