NinjaScript "Open project in Visual Studio" not working

    NinjaScript "Open project in Visual Studio" not working

    When I click the "Open project in Visual Studio" button from within NinjaScript Editor, I get the error: "Visual Studio 2019 or higher is required" - yet, I've had Visual Studio 2022 installed for a while now.
    Any ideas on how to hook it up?
    I'm new to NinjaTrader 8, BTW.

    Thank you for your post.

    May I confirm you are using Visual Studio and not VS Code?

    Can you send a screenshot of what is listed in the Help > About Microsoft Visual Studio window (within Visual Studio)?

      Hi Gaby,

      Yep - I'm a developer by profession and also have SQL Server 2019 installed (but I doubt that would conflict).

      I appreciate your support as I figure out NT8! Seems like a really powerful platform

        Thank you for providing the screenshot.

        Do you have the .NET Desktop Development package installed in the VS installer?

        May I also confirm you are using the latest version of NinjaTrader (8.1.3.1)?

          I do - and have NT 8.1.3.1 64-bit. I also had VS update itself.

            Please send me your log and trace files so that I may look into what occurred.


            You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Email Support


            Ensuring 'Log and Trace Files' is checked will include these files. This is checked by default.

              Thanks Gaby,

              I tried following your directions, and now I'm getting an error sending an email LOL! (see attachment).
              I only tried sending the one email - not multiple as the error suggests.

              Please help me export the files manually, and let me know what email address to send them to.

              (Also, this would be another good one/bug to fix).

                Hello,

                Below is how to manually grab the log and trace.
                1. Hit the "Windows Key + E" on your keyboard to open the Windows File Explorer.
                2. Go to Documents/NinjaTrader
                3. Left-click on the "log" folder to highlight it.
                4. Right-click and select "Compress to ZIP file"
                5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 with the "trace" folder
                6. Send these .zip files as attachments to your email response.

                  I have moved this thread from the 'NinjaTrader 7 > Strategy Development​' section of the forums to the 'NinjaTrader Desktop > General Development​' section of the forums as this does not appear to be for NinjaTrader 7 and appears to be for NinjaTrader 8.
