Protected compiled assemblies now ~10x larger file size

    Hello Support Team,

I recently upgraded to 8.1.3.1 (from 8.1.1.7) with confirmation from other developers that Agile.net protected exporting is backward compatible once again.
What I'm now experiencing is exported file sizes are now approximately 10x larger than prior version exports.

    Test:
    1. Duplicate SMA.cs as TestSMA.cs
    2. [8.1.3.1] Export assembly uncompiled
    3. [8.1.3.1] Export assembly compiled
    4. [8.1.3.1] Export assembly protected compiled
Agile.net version 6.9.1.2 NinjaTrader Edition (downloaded directly from help guide, annual license)
[8.1.1.7] protected compiled export was approximately 290kb in size.

Can you confirm this is expected output? I assume the compiler is now including a whole set of additional resources for backwards compatibility.
    Thank you.

    Hello CDXTrader,

That is expected however I am not aware of any place that is currently documented. This is because of the newer version of agile and what is required to make the exports work across both past and future versions of NinjaTrader. The assembly size is larger because some agile data is now included in the assembly.

Understood, Jesse. Thank you for the confirmation.
The huge jump in file size was a bit confusing. Data usage bandwidth across networks will increase quite a bit when transferring files. Users' Documents\NinjaTrader 8 folder may expand quite a bit also depending how many third-party assemblies they have installed. Sounds like there's no other choice.

In the future, I think I can safely speak for the ecosystem when I say we'd very much appreciate a 'Technical Bulletin' of some kind being sent out to alert us of material changes in compiling practices, file sizes, whatever the change may be. A lot of these things never make it into the revision documentation. I've noticed this consistently over the years.

      Cheers
