    easy variable question

    getting confused ...

    when do I also need to declare a variable e.g. private Brush upBrush = Brushes.Blue;
    that is already declared as a property e.g.

    [XmlIgnore()]
    [Display(Name = "Up color", Description = "Up color for price bars.", GroupName = "Bar Colors", Order = 1)]
    public Brush UpBrush
    {
    get { return upBrush; }
    set { upBrush = value; }
    }
    [Browsable(false)]
    public string upBrushSerialize
    {
    get { return Serialize.BrushToString(upBrush); }
    set { upBrush = Serialize.StringToBrush(value); }
    }

    Hello fingers,

    In most all cases you don't need to define a private variable for public properties. Brushes are a special case where you need the second property to help save and load the value of the brush, most other types don't require that second property. With what you have you would just need to use UpBrush = Brushes.Blue; from State.SetDefaults to set a default value.
