Updating Licensing Code For My Strategy

    Hello,

I have a few indicators and strategies that are currently using old method of protecting the code and license it by manually capturing desktop id's etc.. and making sure only desktops listed are authorized to use it.

I would like to avoid this method and was wondering if there is any code out there that I can utilize that does the following (API based or non API ) :

    1. Uses an email / authorized(generated) key when entered enables the strategy.
    2. Combination of email/key can only be used on a certain # of machines based on what they have a license for.
    3. Does not allow activation if already activated on another machine.

Let me know. Obviously, I can hire a programmer to do this but if there is something out there that is already < 500 dollars i rather pick this then have a developer develop something new.

Looking for some feedback. Thank you in advance.

    Hello priceisking,

There are not any methods that I could suggest besides using the vendor licensing system, that is the only supported means to license products in NinjaTrader. You can implement your own system for example entering a number of predefined string passwords into the code of the script and having a string user input that requires using one of those passwords to enable it. Outside of that you would likely need to hire a programmer to build a system if you needed something more robust and didn't want to use the built in vendor licensing system.

priceisking did you ever end up building this? I'm working on a licensing system right now and thinking of making it usable for other sellers too. It would need to integrate with whatever subscription/payment platform you'd be using. Personally, I just want to have users purchase/subscribe for strategy access, and the strat would prompt them to enter their username/password when it's activated in NT.

What platform would you be using to sell? Shopify, Gumroad, just directly using Stripe, etc?

iantriestrading no, unfortunately i've had no luck with this. I've reached out to few and they all charging 2-5k to develop something. Shopify is the way forward for me currently. but would look at alternatives if cheaper options available.
