What is the equivalent of this Tab Name Variable @PERIOD in Ninjascript

Hi support,

I am trying to get the string value of what is displayed as a TAB name when using this variable @PERIOD

If i use BarsPeriod.BarsPeriodTypeName, i sometimes get a number for certain bar types coming from a third party. However, a tab name with the @PERIOD variable returns a string which is the name of the bar type. Is it possible to pass the "@PERIOD" variable to a Ninjascript function as parameter to get the same value which i see in the Tab.

I know i can use ChartControl.ChartTab.ActualTabName to read the name of a tab which would use the @PERIOD variable but that's not what i want to do as the user may use another set of variables in his settings. All i want is the equivalent of what is returned when a tab uses the @PERIOD.

Thank you for the post.

I am not aware of any way to access the @PERIOD variable however you can access the BarsPeriod.Value which should represent the same string. For example a 1000 Tick would report as 1000 Tick using .Value.

This may or may not work for third party bars types, it would depend on how the BarsType was coded, it may make use of Value2 as well.
