learning to use addon

of all the tools, I am struggling to learn the Add-on.
here are some questions
1. do I need a window for the addon?
2. if all I need is to subscribe to on execution event for a active a/c, can I do it without the window?

Your addon does not have to create a new window. This is up to you.

If you want a new window, you can have the addon open a new window. If you don't want a new window, the addon can run without a new window.

Yes, you can do anything that is not UI related in an addon that has not created a window.
