Variables and Parameters Conventions

What is the difference between the two following examples, both of which work fine?

private int	opacity	= 3; //Under Variables

//and under Parameters
		public int Opacity
		{
		get { return opacity; }
		set { opacity = Math.Max(1, value);
                }

and

 Opacity = 3;  //Under State == State.SetDefaults

//and under Parameters

		[Range(1, int.MaxValue)]
		public int Opacity
		{ get; set; }

The later approach seems to be exclusively used in NT8, but the earlier approach works as well. Certainly, the second approach is easier and shorter to program. Any preference?

Thank you for the post.

There is no difference between these two except for the minimum value check on the first example. The less verbose property definition is a shorthand version of this:

private string name;
public string Name
{
get
{
return this.name;
}
set
{
this.name = value;

}
}

It is a matter of personal preference which one you would like to use.
