Add indicator through Add-On

There is an add-on sample that lists indicators loaded in charts(iterate over "ChartControl.Indicators"). Would be possible to load any indicator to any open chart from add-on?

Thanks for your post.

We don't have a supported way to add indicators to a chart externally, and the steps would be more involved than simply adding to the ChartControl.Indicators collection. For example, you could add an indicator to ChartControl.Indicators and it will list, but the script would not be properly added and would not have a panel or have gone through the proper NinjaScript states. I'll leave this thread open ended in case any community members had success attempting this that they can share.

On our end, I have submitted a vote on your behalf for our feature request to be able to programmatically add indicators to a chart from an AddOn. The ticket ID is SFT-1445. We cannot offer an ETA or promise of fulfillment, but we are tracking interest and the ticket ID number will be noted in the help guide when a new build gets released with the feature implemented.

NinjaTrader_Jim , thanks! Also, is it possible to give us some info about how we might be able to accomplish this without such a built-in feature? You mentioned the indicator lifecycle bits. How can we achieve this prior to the feature launch, as tedious as it may be?

We don't have any documentation regarding how to add indicators to a chart programmatically, so I really could not say how it could be done.

I was mentioning that while you could add an indicator to the ChartControl.Indicators collection, there would be more work to get the indicator running, and I'm not sure what that would be without deep knowledge on the platform's source code. (Our Scripting Support and Platform Support teams do not have access to the internal source code.)
