    EMAs performance per strategy

    Hello,

So if I program a system using a 10,30,100 EMA to define trend criteria before entering a trade, the strategy optimizer can be use to report back the other different ema(s) combinations to cause yield better performance? Or do i have re program a different set of EMAs and then backtest again to see how well the new set performs.

    Thank you

    Hello simple_goodoboy,

You can use an Input (a variable) to hold the value for the period of the moving average indicator being called from the strategy.

The Strategy Analyzer can optimize by incrementing this variable.

For an example, take a look at the SampleMACrossOver strategy that is included with NinjaTrader. This uses two inputs, a Fast and a Slow, to allow the user to alter the length of period used for the calls to the MAs.

Below is a link to the help guide on how to Optimize a strategy in the Strategy Analyzer.
