Run strategy from chart and from strategy tab

I tried running the strategy found in help tutorial using RSI. Running from AAPL 1 min charts connecting to IB live, I can get the RSI plotted.

However, with the AAPL 1 min chart open, when I run the same strategy via the strategy tab, there is no RSI plotted. To test further, I closed the AAPL 1min chart, run the strategy from strategy tab again, and I don't see AAPL 1 min chart open.

If my strategy contains indicator chart plotting, must I run the strategy from the chart? If not, how can I display the chart when run from strategy tab? Any additional function calls required?

That is correct and expected behaviour. You would have to run the strategy on chart for it to dispay on a chart.
