stock gaps

Hi,
I am devellopping some strategies and I want to know how it gonna react when the market of stocks is closed and how the gaps gonna be treated. Can we be executed overnight for limit orders for examples.

Thanks for posting today.

If the market is actively trading and you have an active order, yes this order can fill during the extended trading hours. If your strategy is not active at this time(running on Regular Trading hours) there will be no data coming in.

However, when that order is executed the strategy will receive the order execution and update in OnExecution method.

Thank you, but I am not sure that I full understand the concept. Let's suppose I make a trade today, and activate a stop loss. The stopLoss gonna be valid during the night? Can I also make a limitAsk today and will it be executed by the night? Can I buy on the market in the night?

Thanks for the reply.

This depends on where the stop loss resides and how the brokerage handles after hours orders.
