    Translating variables

    Hi,

I'm trying to learn my strategy to recognise an up and down swing in a momentum indicator. So for I could only find how to give the indicator a numbervalue, but as the trends are hard and soft the value is variable. How can I translate this in strategywizard?

Also, I'm using MAenvelopes. But the wizard only shows the MA55 part and not the bands. As the bands are crucial to my strategy I need to translate candles crossing the bands up and down. Does anyone know how I can translate this aswell?

    Thanks

    Hello Robert87,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the forums!

I'm not entirely certain I understand your momentum question. If the question is that you have created an indicator and it assigns a numeric value, to use that value in a strategy (strategy wizard) that numeric value would need to be exposed such as a plot value.

For the Ninjatrader MAEnvelopes indicator, I have attached an example strategy wizard condition builder screen where I show the selections made to enter short when price crosses below and closes below the upper MAEnvelope line.

You can make a similar condition builder in another set for the other side and change the center to CrossAbove and change the MaEnvelope's plot to "Lower"

Thank you Paul, the MA example will work just fine!

I found examples of momentum indicators like the RSI in wich you need to indicate a rising by adding a value. For example: when RSI line crosses 30 enter ...
Im using a MACD differential where the rising or falling will not necessarily cross a certain value like the 30 line, because the value is variable. Please excuse my English.

        Hello Robert87,

        Thanks for your reply.

I'm glad the example will be of assistance.

If you are using the MACD are you wanting to use the MACD line crossing its average line? Can you post a screenshot of a chart with the MACD condition(s) you are trying to use?

Note: To post a screenshot, you need to click on the "Go Advanced" button below your reply then select "Manage attachments", choose file and upload and when ready press the submit reply button.

          Thanks for your quick respond.

I'm at work now so I could only post an old picture of my former broker/program. The indicator is simulair.
