    PlaySound and Alerts

    Hi everyone

When using PlaySound and Alerts, unless the file is in the NT sounds folder, you need to specify the path, as in this example in Help:

    PlaySound(@"C:\mySound.wav");
Is the speed of 'access' to the sound file - once the conditions in the strategy are triggered - just as fast irrespective of whether it's in the NT sounds folder or anywhere else on the hard drive?

(All the sound files I'll be playing are ones I've made myself using the site below.)

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. This is a good (free) site to create text-to-speech files:

For over a decade, FromTextToSpeech.com offered one of the most popular free text to speech tools online. Millions used our basic service for everything from homework and eLearning to presentations and accessibility. But as AI voices grew more sophisticated and the TTS industry matured, we began to fall behind. Rather than compete with modern platforms

They will then need to be converted to NT-compatible 'wav' files. This can be done here:

Convert your audio to the WAV format with this free online WAV converter. You can optionally extract audio tracks from video and convert them to WAV.

    Hello arbuthnot,
    Thanks for posting today.

Correct you will need to specify the specific path unless it is already in the folder.

Also, as far as access speed it will be a minimal speed difference that would be very difficult to detect. Unless this was on a separate slower hard-drive this would be an almost immeasurable speed difference and would be unnoticeable.

Thanks very much, Alex, for confirming that.

From what you're saying, the time from 'conditions met' to the moment that the sound file starts playing would be a tiny fraction of the speed the fastest trader would take to react to an audio alert.

        Hello,
        Thanks for the reply.

Hard drives index data and having the data in a different folder doesn't increase the time much at all.

The access time difference would be difficult to measure even with a really "fast" PC and would be absolutely minuscule.
